What happened at ASTROWORLD?

Ten people died and hundreds more were injured at rapper Travis Scott’s Astroworld concert in Huston, Texas.

The tragedy unraveled on the night of the fifth of November, when, during the festival’s first night, a “crowd surge” involving 50.000 people took place, completely unravelling the concert into chaos.

According to various eye-witnesses, during Mr. Scott’s set, the entire crowd started pushing towards the stage to get closer to the musician, disregarding the people around them and injuring hundreds.

This case has shed the spotlight on concert security measures all over the world, for example on social media numerous videos have appeared comparing how Travis Scott and his team have dealt with the situation in contrast with other artists like Adele, Green Day and Lady Gaga.

In the UK, similar cases have been fought by the Concert Promoters Association, whose members agree to always abide by strict rules, which clearly include: “Members shall recognise that the safety of the public and performers is their greatest responsibility, and shall ensure that the highest possible standards of safety are observed in the staging and managing of concerts.”

"It wasn't really until minutes before the press conference until I figured out exactly what happened. I just really go off the fans' energy as a collective, you know? Call and response. I just didn't, I just didn't hear that"

“I want to make it clear we weren’t aware of any fatalities until the news came out after the show and in no world would have continued filming or performing"

"Travis Scott, his entourage, handlers, promoters, managers, hangers-on and everyone else who enabled him are the problem,"
